Waste & Disposal

What can I put in a skip bin?

⌄
General household items, green waste, renovation materials, timber, plaster, and concrete/brick (in dedicated bins) are all accepted. See the full list on our Waste Types page.

What can't go in a skip bin?

⌄
Asbestos, liquids, paint, batteries, gas bottles, hazardous chemicals and tyres are prohibited and cannot go in any skip bin. If you're unsure about a specific item, call us and we'll advise the safest option.

Can I put a mattress in a skip bin?

⌄
Yes, mattresses are accepted as general waste in our skip bins. Other bulky household items like couches, furniture, carpet and white goods (doors removed) are also fine. The main items we cannot accept are asbestos, liquids, tyres, batteries and hazardous chemicals.

Can I mix waste types?

⌄
Yes, general bins accept mixed household waste. However, heavy materials like concrete, brick and soil must go into a dedicated clean-fill or heavy waste bin to avoid overweight fees.

Do you recycle the waste?

⌄
Yes, waste is taken to licensed Adelaide processing facilities where recyclable materials are separated and diverted from landfill where possible.

Delivery & Collection

Which Adelaide suburbs do you service?

⌄
We deliver across all of Adelaide — north, south, east and west, including Port Adelaide, Wingfield, Salisbury, Norwood, Glenelg, Unley and 170+ suburbs. Browse all Service Areas.

Do I need to be home for delivery or pickup?

⌄
No, you don't need to be home. If the site is clear and we have placement instructions, we'll deliver and pick up without you present and position the bin exactly where you specify.

How much clearance/space do I need?

⌄
You need at least 2.5 metres width and clear overhead space (no low powerlines or tree branches). Most driveways are fine. Nature strip placements may need council approval.

Size, Weight & Choosing the Right Bin

What size skip bin do I need for a bathroom renovation?

⌄
A 3 m³ or 4 m³ skip bin suits most bathroom renovations in Adelaide. A 3 m³ handles a single bathroom strip-out including tiles, fixtures and plaster. Go with a 4 m³ if you're also replacing flooring or doing structural work. For concrete and brick waste, use a separate 2 m³ bin due to weight limits.

What are the weight limits for skip bins?

⌄
Each skip bin has a weight allowance included in the hire price. The 2 m³ bin allows up to 2 tonnes, which suits heavy materials like concrete and brick. Larger bins (3–9 m³) have weight limits that vary by waste type — general household waste is lighter, so the allowance is generous. Overweight bins incur an additional charge. We'll confirm your specific weight limit when you book.

What's the difference between m³ and tonnes?

⌄
m³ (cubic metres) measures volume and tonnes measure weight. Each bin includes a fair weight allowance — heavy materials like concrete and soil reach the weight limit faster than lighter general waste.

What happens if my skip bin is too small?

⌄
If your bin fills up before the job is done, call us and we'll arrange a swap — we pick up the full bin and drop a fresh one. It's charged as a separate hire. To avoid this, we recommend going one size up if you're unsure. Our most popular sizes are 4 m³ for bathroom and kitchen renos, and 6 m³ for larger garden or whole-room jobs.

What happens if I overfill the bin?

⌄
Loads must not exceed the rim of the bin for safety. Overfilled bins may need repacking or incur extra charges. When in doubt, choose the next bin size up.

Do I need a council permit for a skip bin on the street in Adelaide?

⌄
Yes, you need a permit from your local council if the bin sits on the street or council verge. Each Adelaide council has its own process — Charles Sturt, West Torrens, Port Adelaide Enfield, Unley and others all issue permits. No permit is needed if the bin sits on your own driveway or property. We can guide you through your council's process when you book.
